Our team works closely with state agencies, policymakers, and community partners to strengthen systems that support children and families affected by incarceration.
Legislative Engagement
SB 461 & HB 6182 (2025): To promote education equity by expanding higher education support for children under the guardianship of grandparents or other relatives & To require the Department of Children and Families to continue to provide financial aid for the postsecondary education expenses for foster youth until such youth reaches twenty-eight years of age.
HB 5001 (2022): To improve the availability and provision of mental health, behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment services to children.
HB 6714 (2019): To provide cost-free telecommunications services for incarcerated persons.
SB 1113 (2019): To enact the recommendations of the Connecticut Sentencing Commission with respect (1) to the sexual offender registry, (2) petitions to terminate the parental rights of incarcerated parents, and (3) sentence reviews.
